Every time I go visit Minnesota. I get made fun of for my accent; they call it a southwestern accent. It’s fun to be differnent but the comments can get old. Especially if I moved there. Good luck!

Yup, you totally have an accent! It’s funny, I don’t hear too many accents here in Raleigh since so many people (including myself) are not from here.

Jen.. I don’t think that your accent is that bad. I do have to say that every time that we are down there they do ask me the same thing, I have even had it happen to me in MI. I do think my accent is worse than yours though.
I remember when Brad and I first started dating he said could not understand a word I said. So.. it must be pretty bad. You have to remember where you are at though… Florida! Have you forgot how they act up here already and that is just driving the roads? ha ha (Well some of them.)

I find that funny… I am an Aussie living here in Florida and so I get it all… Are you from New Zealand? Are you from Sth Africa? Are you from New York? Are you from England? Are you from Boston? You speak good English for someone who hasn’t been in the US that long (ahhh… what do they think we speak in Australia… hahaha)… having said that… I have been to NC and spoke to a few people were I could have used subtitles… but will admit that I loved listening to it… so me, I am use to that question. Actually, my Sister-in-law is from Murphy, NC (though originally from MA)

How insulting! What are you? Are zoo animal? A circus freak? My word. We don’t have people in our state with that thick an accent and I know if I were at the store and heard someone with your accent I wouldn’t be like “hey, everyone come over here and listen to this girl talk!” Gosh, that would have really pissed me off Jen. It’s a good thing you’re such a nice person…if that would have been me…well, you know LOL
