Sickies Go Away Please

By Jen | March 27, 2007

Hello.. Knock Knock… winter remember your time was up last week. Yes we are in spring right now.. so that means you need to leave and take the sickies with you please. I know you love our house and just love to stir up trouble and mess up our normal routines. I hate to be harsh, but I am sick of you messing up our routines. Please take some time away and come back oh in another year please and if you don’t mind please be much kinder on our family with the sickies next winter ;).

AHHH… my girls have been sick once again. It was probably going from the 60 degree weather to 20 degrees and snowing. Anyways.. my girls have dealt with sickies enough this past winter season. I am tired of giving them antibiotics and just downright refuse to give them antibiotics anymore. Lyndsee has another severe ear infection and this would be her fifth in 3 months and the 6th time she is on antibiotics. Well in my opinion these antibiotics this time were making her feel so much worse and wrecking havoc on her poor belly. I went with my mommy instincts and going the all natural course this time and letting nature clear the infection up.

I am just not a big fan of filling my children up with medicine. Now if something is seriously wrong of course I would and seek medical attention, but there are times when you have this mommy instinct and when it kicks in watch out!

Here’s to no more sickies for our family and yours :)

I don’t blame you. Several weeks ago Sadie had a high fever and I took her to the Doctor. He examined her for about 30 seconds, tops, and wrote a prescription for antibiotics. He said she had tonsillitis. Well, it just didn’t sit right with me. I went home and did some research online and found that tonsillitis is often caused by a *virus* and antibiotics are useless, and so I decided not to fill the prescription. And she was fine the next day. :)
I did give her an herbal combination from Herbs for Kids. She liked taking it, and I know if I had had to try to pour that antibiotic and decongestant down her throat 3 times a day for TEN days, she would have fought like heck.
