Best Mother’s Day Gift of All Time

I will go ahead and say it, my husband does not ever celebrate Mother’s Day, My Birthday, Valentine’s Day, or Our Anniversary, it hurts but I have just come to realize that is how he is and keep moving forward.

I do have two little girls that help me celebrate each and every one of these holidays. M and L light up my life so much and I truly thank God for giving me two precious girls.

This past Friday I was greeted with a big hug from L to wake me up and she had a smile on her face that would light up the room. She said: “Mommy, the special day is here. It is Mother’s Day muffins time”

I awaited all day because I knew this was going to be one special day. I walked into the classroom at 2:00pm and L guided me to my seat, pushed me in and then immediately came to greet me with two muffins and a cup of lemonade.

Is that smile not priceless? As I was eating, she was so excited to share her goodies that she made me.

The purple card read:

“Derr Mommy,

I like to help mommy and my mommy like to help me and happy Mother Day and Happy Mother Day.

Love,

L

The beautiful flower bouquet read:

I will love you forever
And forever you will be
The most wonderful mother
You mean everything to me.

I thought of buying you flowers
In the usual way
But I knew you would prefer
A FOREVER bouquet!

This Mother’s Day was just starting and I was already over-joyed. These are gifts I will cherish forever and ever.

M surprised me last night in the kitchen with this beautiful card!

It caught me by surprise and I cried so hard.

Dear Mommy

You’re the best mommy ever. I think that no other Mom could replace you. I think your amazing just the way you are because you were made the way I wanted you to be because I love how you have glasses and my favorite part about you is you have the same color hair as me. I love you from the heart and I think you are the best m other ever because you give me whatever I need, like, love and me a birthday and thank you for signing me up for softball. I love you Mommy.

M

We hugged each other so tightly and would not let each other go for what seemed like a good five minutes. Tears were just streaming down my face. This is my child, my beautiful child that I am raising, and the card just shows how close of a bond we do have.

L and M had already truly made my Mother’s Day. The best Mother’s Day gifts of all time. I wouldn’t even think of wanting anything else.

Today we started the day in church and then spent time outdoors with no technology attached to us at all. We explored the Natural Science Center

and the Greensboro Children’s Museum.

Seeing the extra bounce in the girls steps, the glee that would escape their mouths and the non-stop smiles as we went about our day. I could not have asked for a better day and it was all because of my girls. They yet again made sure mommy was given the best day. I am truly blessed!

Caillou Doll and Caillou Toy Learning Train Review

Who loves Caillou? Caillou streams in many households each and everyday. We are helping celebrate childhood with Caillou. Caillou airs on PBS Kids and Sprout and is brought to you by Cookie Jar Entertainment. My girls have grown up watching Caillou and are still fans of the show. To celebrate the fact that growing up is the greatest adventure, we were given the opportunity to review the Caillou Doll and the Caillou Toy Learning Train. You all could here the review from me the parent, but really I wanted to go right to the source – M and L.

Caillou is available in stores at Target, Toys R Us and online at Amazon.com.

Thank you to Team Mom for giving us the opportunity to review the doll and learning train. We were not compensated for this post and all opinions and comments are of our own here at OneMomsWorld.com.

What is my most favorite part of being a mom

One of my most favorite holidays are coming up! Mother’s Day. It is not even about the gifts that makes me excited, it is celebrating that I am a mother to my two beautiful daughters M and L. They truly make my life complete and I seemed to always be moved to tears when I talk about them.

Recently, I took part in the Got Milk Like Mother Like Daughter Campaign in New Orleans. Got Milk asked several bloggers different questions about being a mom.

My question: “What is my most favorite part of being a mom?” – You will have to listen in on this short video to see the answer!

What questions do your kids ask you

Kids always say the darndest things right? I can be having such a stressful day, and my girls can ask the most off the wall question to make me smile and laugh. Tonight, L was quizzing her daddy with some of the weirdest questions.

Easter 2011 114

1. Daddy, what does umm mean? Everyone says umm, so what does it mean daddy?

Well, she does have a good point. So many of us will add in umm as we are talking. It just goes to show you that kids pay more attention than we give them credit.

2. Daddy, what would happen if we did not have a brain?

This one came out of left field I think. I mean honestly, I am not sure what would happen, but I can guarantee it would probably be mass chaos.

3. Daddy, why do we have to have feet to walk?

Hubby, just looked at L and said well how else would you want to walk? Should we walk on our hands? She just laughed.

Then later on in the night, M got in on the interesting questions.

Easter 2011 111

4. She asked, which would you rather not have, your feet or your hands?

This is actually a good question and really gets the mind thinking. I am going to go with no feet though.

I do know the girls minds are turning 24/7 and we never know what they will come up with next. I love that they ask these questions as it gets conversations started and leads to really interesting and long lasting conversations.

What interesting questions has your child asked lately?

Spring Brings All New Worries To Parents

The weather has been absolutely beautiful here. This means some very much needed outdoor time for the whole family. The girls love the outdoors and it helps keep us all sane around here when we can run around outside with no worries right? Well, I thought that is how Spring works.

L and I were enjoying some mommy and L time at the park Friday while M and daddy were at her softball practice. All is well in the world until my heart skips a beat.

See this beautiful smile on L:

She is really enjoying swinging until all of a sudden right after I took this picture, L decides to take a leap off the swing right as the swing was in mid-air. She fell hard on her head and I dropped everything. My purse, my phone, my camera and immediately grabbed her up. Probably not the best move, but I was terrified that she was hurt bad. I looked at her and she was completely dazed for a few seconds and then as she started seeing more clearly, she said mommy please get this dirt off of me. I said L, you really did just hit hard, are you ok? Yes, mommy just get this dirt off of me now. No tears at all, just worried about the dirt touching her beautiful dress.

Life can come at you fast and I am hoping that we do not have any more of these incidents. I was thanking God for his blessings and keeping her safe. She definitely had an angel watching over her – Grandma perhaps? I like to think so :) L’s reasoning behind the jump was that she felt like she was slipping!

Who Said Brand Slogans Do Not Work

I can actually beg to differ because of a certain 6 year old.

We are cutting corners and tightening down the fort here on our finances as we really want to buy a house this coming up year. I was on the phone today getting insurance rate quotes to see if we could save money on our monthly auto insurance bill. Little Miss L comes prancing through and asks me who I am talking to on the phone. I tell her quietly, that I am talking to Nationwide Insurance. She looks at me and then starts singing loudly “Nationwide is on your side.”

Photobucket

What? I looked at M and said did she just say “Nationwide is on your side?”… Sure enough I heard her correctly. I finished up receiving our quote and started thinking, she had to hear this slogan on the TV. If a six year old can remember this slogan, then you know the slogan really sticks with adults. Brand slogans really do work. In our minds, we are constantly putting slogans together with brand names.

Way to go Nationwide for putting together a slogan that will get everyone’s attention, even a little child :)

Huge Milestone With Santa

It has only took 6 years, but we finally met a huge milestone this past weekend with L. She sat on Santa’s lap for the first time without mommy, without crying and was actually very happy about it.

I was smiling ear to ear and clapping my hands for her. She has never wanted anything to do with Santa but something changed this year while we were at Great Wolf Lodge. She is the one that asked to go see Santa. I had to of course ask M what she told Santa that she wanted this year for Christmas.

I’m so tickled!

Christmas is such a magical time and just seeing L be so happy about seeing Santa was just music to this mommy’s ears.

Happy Holidays!

First Snow of the Season

Who said you couldn’t have fun with just a little bit of snow? My girls proved that theory wrong this past weekend. We knew once we moved to Raleigh, that the snow would not be as much. Now, I am a HUGE snow lover so I do want snow but just not all winter. Hence the reason why I did not want to move to Florida again. Snow is so beautiful to look at and makes this time of year feel even more magical.

We only got about an inch last weekend but the girls darted right out when it started falling to have fun. I know I had a friend back in Boone say that even though they have got so much snow this past week, it has been way too cold for them to go out in and play. So, at least the girls did actually get to go play in the snow. Enjoy the sights and sounds of the girls enjoying the first snow of the season.

Christmas Is Music To Childrens Ears

L made her big singing debut this past Sunday in all three services at church. For everyone that knows L, this was such a HUGE step for her. She has been so afraid of a stage for the past couple of years and just would not have nothing to do with going near one.

Times have changed for my precious girl. She enjoys music so much and is always singing or humming. Her choir group at church was able to sing two Christmas songs during each service. I love how she looks for me in the audience and then starts waving. I will keep these memories forever.

Enjoy!

So Thankful For My Littlest Turkey

God knew what he was doing when he granted me my two precious daughters. Being a mom is the most rewarding job ever and one that you will hear “Thank You” more than ever!

Recently, I was invited to L’s Thanksgiving feast at school. She was so excited to have me come and actually eat lunch in her classroom. She leaped out of bed that morning and was so ready to get to school.

I walked into the classroom with her smiling ear to ear. She was proudly showcasing her “Thank You” book and eagerly ready to read it to me.

L is a child that will tell you that she is so thankful for her family and her doggy. She wrote her doggy on her paper and her teacher said that doesn’t make sense. Of course it makes sense to L and to her dad and I. Her doggy is truly her best friend and we just grin every time she includes him in her projects.

Soon it was time to fill our bellies with the first Thanksgiving foods of the year! I was so good and ate the same portions as L because as we all know, Thanksgiving Day is very near and we will all be stuffed.

Photobucket

As soon as L took her last bite, she was leaping for the desserts. Mommy passed because again, I am trying to make sure I maintain my weight through the holidays. L had pumpkin pie for me and she made sure to tell me how delicious it was but said mommy you are the best chef ever :)

Photobucket

It was such a fun day and one I will have memories forever. I am so very thankful for my littlest turkey!
