This is true love…

My husband and I are not the most romantic people in this world. I am hopeful that 2013 may change that around for us. We will be celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary in a couple of weeks and I am trying to pull something together to surprise him. Hopefully, I can work it out.

Even though he is not the most romantic, I consider this true love. Obviously, it has been really cold here in the mountains. We are trying to not use much propane as it is very expensive and we went through $1800 worth of propane last year. This cannot happen this year, so we have been using portable heaters to warm the house. Since, we do not really have any heat in the bathrooms, it can get downright cold. The other night after dinner, I was finishing up the dishes and he asked if I was going to take a shower. He said you might want to go ahead since we could lose power. We had a high warning in effect. As I finished getting my pj’s together, I walked into the bathroom and was immediately in awe. The bathroom was so warm and cozy. My husband had moved the portable heater in the bathroom to warm the room before I got in there. I just smiled. Now, that is love. It may not be romantic to others, but it is to me. I told him, you are not the most romantic but that really touched my heart. He just smiled!

It is the little things that can add up in a marriage. The little surprises that catch your spouse off guard. I am thinking of my little surprise for him.

It really is the little things. All the grand gestures in the world can’t make up for the day-to-day signs that someone is paying attention to your well-being. Diamonds are NOT a girl’s best friend. Not if she’s in it for the long haul.

Jen I just loved your story. I have some what a similar story involving bathing. We had run out of oil to heat the house and heat the water. My husband knew I would want to bathe when I woke up. I came down to a bath tub full of hot water that he had heated up in many pots to fill the bathtub. There was also a portable heater to heat the bathroom, candles and to top it off a cup of tea. Now if that isn’t love I don’t know what is. My husband like your’s is not the most romantic either but I would say we both have keepers!
