infant GERD

Is GERD over-diagnosed in infants?

Over the last few years, you hear more and more about pediatricians diagnosing babies with GERD and prescribing them reflux drugs. My sweet L was one of those babies given a GERD diagnosis. According to a recent study that was published in the Pediatrics Journal, physicians often label common symptoms in infants, such as crying and spitting up, as disease. The frequent use of the GERD label can lead to overuse of medication.

Parents do your research before agreeing too medication. We only ended up giving L the medication for two weeks, because we found other remedies that worked better for us. Check out the following infographic for more details.
