Disney Social Media Moms Conference Day 1
For a week in February, we decided to leave all the snow behind and head for Sunny Florida. Over the next few days, I am going to do a daily recap of our time at the conference. Let me just say that Disney went way out of their way to make this such a grand time for everyone and including all our families in on the fun.
Day 1:
We checked into the super fabulous Polynesian Resort where we were greeted with such superb Customer Service. As soon as we dropped off all our luggage, we wasted no time in heading straight to the parks. I do have to say this was our first time staying on-site and it was nice to just park your car and take the Monorail or the Bus to all the parks.
Our first park we headed to was the Animal Kingdom. I will go ahead and tell you my youngest daughter L is not a fan of all the Disney characters. She is very afraid of people dressed up and wants no part in seeing them, so we made the decision to let her go see the Animals first!
As soon as we walked in, we were immediately greeted with the animals. L was loving this Disney park. She is a huge animal lover and we just had to stop and see all the animals.
Unfortunately, since we had never been to Animal Kingdom, we didn’t realize Safari was the place to see many more animals, so we made a trip back to Animal Kingdom on our last day. (More to come about the Safari on the last day recap)
As I was hanging out with L, hubby would make sure to make all the stops for the Greet and Meet Characters with M. Just a note of advice… Make sure to let your little one have an autograph book with them in the parks (you can even just purchase a small notebook for them) so they can have all the Characters autograph. M was loving all the autographs with each of the characters.
L was over the moon happy with just having her Lil Tinkerbell Baby to carry in her arms throughout the park.
After spending all day at Animal Kingdom, we headed back for a night of fun at ESPN Worldwide of Sports.
This venue was huge and so awesome to be able to take in the sights while no one was there
.
As the moms were attending a Press Conference, all the families were out on the field having a great time partaking in all the sports events.
Back in the Press Conference, the Social Media Moms, were getting a look into all the awesome upcomings Disney is bringing forth for everyone. One of the new adventures is the Disney Dream Cruise that is coming in 2011. I knew I wanted to take a Disney Cruise before, but now I really WANT to make it happen for my family after seeing all they are going to offer for families.
Also, one of the key features of the Disney Cruise is the AquaDuck water coaster. Just watch and see how cool this new water coaster is:
And yet another great feature coming back is the Disney Electrical Parade in Magic Kingdom this Summer. We were able to experience the Electrical Parade when we were at Disney this past Christmas. It was so neat and the girls were just in awe during the whole parade seeing all the floats lit up and the people in the parade all lit up. Definitely a must see when you are at the parks. Here are some photos from our time at Christmas.
After the Press Conference, we all headed to another venue at the ESPN Worldwide of Sports to have dinner and let the kids enjoy a dance party with all the beloved Characters. L was just fine sitting with her mommy the whole time, but M really got up on stage and had the time of her life dancing her little heart out. They even were entertained by the High School Musical Cast.
It really was an awesome way to end the evening. Big KUDOS to ESPN Worldwide of Sports for hosting us and show what true family entertainment is all about!
PS: Keeping it real here at One Moms World. I was apart of the Disney Social Media Moms Conference in which we did get reduced hotel and was given tickets as well some dinners provided. They in no way had us post about our time during the Conference. I wanted to from my own mind and heart and will be expressing my opinions about Disney over the course of this week
.

We are moving from this:
to this:
Quite a change right? These are actual pictures that I have taken and just love both soooo much!
So I have been a little busy bee packing and trying to get everything organized. Never fear… Spring Weight Off will pick up where it left off last week next Monday. This week is just so much chaos… phew. I am going to time date some blog posts so subscribe to the feed if you do not want to miss out on any action here at One Moms World.
So… As most of you all know, I have been living in Florida for the last year. I have grown to love it here. It’s nice when you can just drive across the road and walk into a Super Target, or grab a joe at Starbucks, or munch on salsa and chips at Chilis.
Or…take a trip down the road and go to the beach whenever you feel like it. Or… hop into the car and go to disney for the day. It has been an experience and I am so glad that I have got to experience this last year. I have always said I would either live at the mountains or the beach.
The only thing I have missed is my family back in NC and friends. You just don’t really know what you have until you are miles and miles apart. Family and friends are really important to me and I thank God for putting each and everyone of you in my life.
With that said, we are making the move back to NC this Friday. It is such a bittersweet moment, because I have grown to love Florida so MUCH and having everything close by, but yet am ready to be with my family and friends. So its like I am so torn, but I know God is looking out for us and everything is going to be ok! God has got me through everything in my life and I’m not so sure where I would be in life today if I didn’t have him… so I’m thankful for his love.
All my in-laws live down here, so I know we will be back to visit. Florida it has been a good year and I have no regrets. I know we have all the pictures that one day we can look back at all the beautiful memories that we have made here.
The girls are just as torn as I am because they love the water, but I have ensured Madisyn we would make sure she gets her water in NC as well.
.
So here we are starting back on the adventure to NC this Friday and taking plant into the NC Mountains. It’s been a fun ride and I know it will not stop here
.
Is This Really Florida
The temps were 39 degrees a couple mornings when we woke up this week…. I had to scratch my head and think, did I fly to NC in my sleep?
Very unusual, but how am I suppose to tell the girls it is too cold in April to go outside and play when it has been in the 80s and close to 90? Hmmm well lets bring out the winter clothes and go have a blast in the good ole game of baseball.

We had a really good time and it was actually a good break from playing outside in the heat. Also it’s always good when you can save your energy and electric bill of not having to run the wonderful AC. While we are on the topic of Florida…I thought I would take this time and blog about something that has been happening since we moved down here 10 months ago.
Everywhere we go… I get asked: Where are you from? Because we know you are not from here. Well… no I am not. I am from NC. Oh we can tell they always say! Today when we were in the grocery store, I was in the check-out line. The cashier said while laughing, where are you from? I said I am from NC. She said oh I just knew it. Then she had everybody coming over listen at how she talks.. she is from NC. Ok…..hmmm LOL!I get on the cellphone when I come out of the store and call my husband. Hun… do I really stand out of the crowd down here by the way I talk. He said yes dear you sure do! Oh geez thanks. This is coming from the New Yorker himself.
Take a listen at this little audio I just did and see what you think. Love to hear your comments.

My Little Girl is Happy to be back in Florida
So yes indeed I did the 12 hour drive back to Florida with my two girls and my step-daughter in tow. We headed out early at 5:30am and I said my prayers, because I was a nervous wreck.
All was going well and the girls were having fun entertaining themselves with the bag of little toys we had in the van…. then alllll heck broke lose
. Lyndsee was having no more of time in the van. My poor baby girl. I was trying everything to soothe her. I could tell she really wanted to nap, but one problem you see, she falls to sleep playing with my hair.
I gave her my hand and left one hand on the steering wheel of course, and yes that worked for about 5 minutes (gah, my hand was going numb LOL), and then she let into the big time crying again. The thing is when she has her meltdowns, she gets herself so worked up, that her asthma takes over
. So here she is having a hard time breathing and she is sweating so bad, I hurry and get off at the next stop that I could, which was luckily a rest stop.
I got her out and hugged on her, let her hold my hair hehe, and talked to her to calm her down. We stayed there for a bit and then I put her back in her car seat and all was good for about an other 30 minutes and then she started crying again
. I felt so bad. I absolutely cannot stand to hear my girls cry. I want to make sure I meet all their needs and well I'm just not a fan of letting them cry. So I sang and told her we were going to see daddy and then big sister Madisyn got her playing with their toys again YAY.
Doing the drive during the day was just way to hard on the girls, and I will remember that next time and we will stick with the night driving!
Click on the image below and you will see a collage I made of my happy girl back dancing and smiling once we got home!

Sorry for the lapse in posts here.. Just had a lot going on past couple weeks business and personal wise. I figured hey if I don't have anything positive to say then just stay away. Have some crucial specialist appointments coming up for my baby girl Lyndsee, so that has been on my mind alot tooo.
I do miss my blogging friends though so I'm off to read me some good ole blogs
Family Night in Florida
As we were winding down a family day (Sunday's are our family day's as The Man has to work 6 days as week so we always make sure to do something special as a family cause the girls miss their daddy so much) at the pool and cookout, we all had our jammies on and sitting around the coffee table to play one of the girl's board games… what do you know the once beautiful sky today
Turned really black fast and you could tell we were in for it… all of sudden it was like the gates had been open….
Here comes the fierce down pour of rains with the mean lightning behind it. I for one believe this was our worst storm yet in the 6 weeks we have been here… What gets me is the girls are NOT afraid of the storms at all and want to just run and jump right in front of the sliding glass doors. Ummm NOPE! I kept telling them those lightning streaks are not fun.. yes they make look funny but they can hurt. They just thought oh silly mommy until… bam we hear and sound and there goes the power.
Since we are non-prepared floridians now that have no flash lights or candles we are sitting around in the complete darkness singing and snuggling. We sang the I Love You Barney Song, Old Mcdonald had a farm, Twinkle Twinkle little star, and Splish Splash Bible Bash. We were all cracking up as the girls would sing the songs each in a different way. I was in tears at times laughing so darn hard HA!
What could have been a ruined family night actually turned into quite a blast. Now the girls are tucked away sleeping right here in the bed with me and as soon as I hugged them and kissed them they literally fell asleep that fast.
This was a gentle reminder though.. get candles and batteries in stock hehe!
What does your family do during power outages at night?

But guess what we have in Florida? Go ahead and try to guess. You could only imagine my facial expression when I happened to look outside our great room's windows this afternoon and see something staring back at me. I am sure my mouth was dropping down to my knees and I had to take a double take.
. What would you do if you saw this staring back at you?
Would you be shocked too? Now we have seen these birds around the community here, but I had no idea they just walk right up to your door. Once I got myself together and my mouth back where it was suppose to be
… I hollered at the girls from their playroom. They came a running to try and figure out what all this yelling was about. I opened the door and Lyndsee screamed because she LOVES birds and I think Madisyn was speechless. I hurried and grabbed the camera. They could care less if we walked up to them… they just stood there.
We finally started feeling sorry for them and fed them some bread. You should have heard this weird noise they made as they all went fighting over the bread. Of course the girls couldn't stop at just one piece so I think they ended up throwing 3 pieces each at them.
Anyways that was a pretty good nature event today here at our household. Here are some more picts we took of them.
After we went back in.. the rain started pouring and I mean pouring… so of course this means splash time. We had to carry on the nature events of the day right? I had Madisyn put on a old shirt of mine and Lyndsee just some shorts so they wouldn't get their good clothes messed up. They had a blast and Madisyn said mom you are my best friend and I love you so much. AWWW… right there makes everything worth it all just hearing those words. Of course… this made up for this morning when she said mommy when I grow up.. I am going to have a big butt like you… HMMMPF. I had to hold my tongue on that one
. Gotta love what they can come up with!!
Enjoy the picts of splash time.
Do you ever just take advantage of rainy days and turn them around to where the kids can have fun as well?
